Jennifer began participating in sports as soon as she could walk. Not only was she extremely active, but she quickly discovered a competitive surge running through her veins. She began with friendly foot races in preschool, and worked her way through many team and individual sports. Her favorites were soccer, basketball, track, softball and tennis. Most recently, she found a place in the sport of bodybuilding in the figure division. Jennifer discovered work ethic, discipline, respect, and responsibility in the athletic arena. In fact, she learned more about the human body through her own experiences than any book or class could have taught her. She thrived on challenging not only her body but her mind as well. In addition, she became quite intrigued with the “human body,” psychology of sport, muscular anatomy, and environmental adaptation. To say the least, the passion she has developed for health and fitness is deeply rooted.
Through her involvement in sports during college she became the supervising trainer at Whittier College and led the pre-season conditioning programs for many of the varsity teams including football, basketball, baseball, soccer, and lacrosse. Intrigued by the dynamics of sports performance she directed her attention to studying sports psychology along with biomechanics, and kinesiology. Her experience was further enriched with an internship and directed study at Presbyterian Hospital with a registered dietician. Jennifer graduated Whittier at the top of the Physical Education major with an emphasis in nutrition and a minor in psychology.
Jennifer recognized several things in college: she is a good leader, an inventive teacher, a creative thinker, and an ambitious learner. Thus, her goal developed into a desire to figure out what people want to learn, and what they want to be lead to; she wanted to be the one to guide them. Keeping this in mind while her inquisitiveness guided her research, she finally found what people want. It’s an age old phrase: health and happiness. As cliché as it sounds, she felt a calling for the work of changing lives, by whatever means necessary.
Upon graduating college Jennifer was hired by 24 Hour Fitness as a professional trainer and was soon after promoted to assistant manager. The new title carried with it the responsibility of leading a staff of about 15 trainers regarding training skills and keeping track of the club’s monthly gross goals. She managed training teams at four 24 Hour Fitness locations all in the effort to gain skill at building teams in different arenas. The skills she learned as assistant manager allowed her to build her own business within 24 Hour Fitness. Her training sales in the company ranked her as high as number 2 in the company competing with over 5,000 trainers across the country. In doing so, she was awarded many training incentives and received opportunities to achieve certifications such as Olympic Weightlifting, AAFA, IFPA, and NASM. In addition, she developed a training model that sparked interest throughout the entire company.
Jennifer decided to accept the beckoning opportunity to branch away from 24 Hour Fitness in 2006 and has been training privately since. She is continuing to broaden her horizons in many ways such as exploring chiropractic, acupuncture, massage therapy, and other alternative methods. Her clients range from adolescents to 80 years old and their goals are as specific as sports training or for general health and well-being. She validates her beliefs by leading as a role model and for that reason is intent on improving her own life and health every day. Jennifer demonstrates that the only way to remain strong, vigorous, and able to meet the responsibilities of life, is to take care of you first.
